Shipley Golf Club has a large and enthusiastic “Ladies Section” that welcomes all golfers from beginners to experienced.
We currently have around 120 members in the “Ladies Section”. Most are playing members and Tuesday is Ladies Day with a small number playing Saturday and Sundays. We have teams playing in the Yorkshire and Bradford and District Leagues, with success and we also arrange Friendly Matches for the higher handicap golfers.
|I'm Jane Cranston-Young and I am Ladies Captain for 2021.
This is our centenary year at Beckfoot and 125 years as a golf club.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed this year will be filled with fun competitions and competitive team matches. 2020 was a totally scary year for everyone and I'm hoping we are through the worst.
I'm happiest when playing golf with my friends and my husband in mixed teams and qualifying competitions.
Shipley golf club is a great place to make friends and the ladies section had a very 'open for golf' inclusive attitude for members of any handicap
I'm Kathy Brammah and I am Ladies President for 2021
When I was in my 50s my husband encouraged me to take up Golf as he was about to retire. I have loved it ever since and can't imagine my life without it now, also we have had wonderful Golf holidays. I have always played tennis so was quite competitive. My Handicap is 18 ,I have loved playing in the clubs A Teams and reaching two Finals one of which we won. I have also had 2 Hole-In-Ones bit of luck. Shipley Golf Club is a Beautiful Golf Course and you will find everyone so welcoming and Friendly.
Happy Golfing, KATHY.
I'm Christine Nailer and I am Ladies Treasurer.
I’ve been playing golf for 16 years and for the last 4 years have been a member at Shipley GC. I really enjoy the course but above all I love the challenge of the game and the friendly and good humoured competitiveness of the Ladies Section. My current handicap is 25 and I’d like it to be less. Maybe it’s a pipe dream but there’s no harm in trying.
My current role on the Ladies Committee is Treasurer. It mainly entails collecting your competition entry and function fees, paying out to the prize winners and paying the bills for the “little extras” that are always so welcome on competition days and at functions. So if you see me heading towards you in the Club House, I may be chasing a payment (we nearly all forget the deadlines) but more often than not I’ll probably just be saying hello.
I'm Michelle Sunderland and I joined the Ladies committee this year.
I started playing golf in 2015 and thats when I joined Shipley Golf Club as an Associate member, I became a full member one year later.
My biggest golfing achievements so far are winning the Rabbits Cup and the Coronation cup, and reducing my handicap to 29. My goal for this season is to get into the second division (20-28 handicap).
Shipley has a large ladies section with three divisions, and plenty of opportunity to play with golfers of all abilities, so why not come and join us!
|I'm Clare Hall and I have been on the committee for one year.
I first joined Shipley in 2009 as an Associate member before joining up as a full member.
As my handicap is still 32, I would have to say that resilience is probably my greatest achievement in golf !!!!
I am now in my second year on the ladies committee and have the pleasure of looking after the hut on a Tuesday, ladies golf day. As the ladies would not function without their caffeine and biscuits it is a very important role !!!
Shipley is a fantastic club to be a member of. We have enjoyed a wide range of social events e.g. Bistro Nights, Early Bird dinners and many other functions with excellent food, good company and in lovely surroundings.
The club and the course are well managed and our professional Nathan Stead is an excellent teacher and offers a well stocked shop and a very good service.
We have a very supportive and large Ladies Section and I have made many good friends since joining.
|I'm Sharon Howroyd and this is my second time on the committee
I have played golf at Shipley Golf Club for over 40 years, and have played in both the A and B Team matches, also when I worked I played in the Evening League and Sunday Leagues. Last year I Captained our A2 team finishing quite high up in the league tables.
My handicap is 21 but at my best a few years ago I managed to get to 16. Shipley is an excellent Club to be a member of having a great set of ladies with which to play golf with.
