Rabbit competitions are open to all paid up members of the section (except Strumpet which is open to everyone wh goes on the Captain’s Away Day). As some are played on Saturdays though Gold membership pf the club will be necessary
April The Rabbit Captains Cup
Entry is open to all members of the Rabbits Section with a competition handicap index of 15.5 or greater and who have paid the subscription for the current year before teeing off
Format is two paired rabbits playing a fourball better ball medal off the allocated tees for the day.
May Rabbits Cup
Entry is open to all members of the Rabbits Section with a competition handicap index of 15.5 or greater and who have paid the subscription for the current year before teeing off
Format is singles medal played off white tees
July Henry Robinson Cup
Entry is open to all members of the Rabbits Section with a competition handicap index of 15.5 or greater and who have paid the subscription for the current year before teeing off
Format is two paired rabbits playing a fourball better ball medal off white tees
July Associate Rabbit Cup
Entry is open to full and intermediate members of the club with a competition handicap index of 15.4 or better and juniors with an active handicap of 12.4 or better
It is played on the same day and times as the Henry Robinson Cup and Tiger teams are encouraged to play with a rabbit team
Format is two paired tigers playing a fourball better ball medal off white tees
September Wickens Trophy
Entry is open to all members of the Rabbits Section with a competition handicap index of 15.5 or greater and who have paid the subscription for the current year before teeing off
Format is singles medal played off white tees
Away Day The Rabbits Strumpet
Entry is open to all members of the Rabbits Section with a competition handicap index of 15.5 or greater at the start of the competition and who have paid the subscription for the current year before teeing off. It is also open to anyone of handicap 15.4 or below who plays with a Rabbit member on the day
The competition is a fourball Stableford and is played on the afternoon of the Rabbits away day
Away Day Committee Cup
Entry is open to all current and past members of the Rabbits Committee who are still members of the Rabbits Section
The competition is a single stableford competition played over ten holes arranged by the Committee during the year.
All Season Buck Rabbit
Entry is open to all members of the Rabbits Section with a competition handicap index of 15.5 or greater at the start of the competition and who have paid the subscription for the current year before teeing off
If a players handicap index reduces to below 15.5 during the season he may continue to take part in the competition playing off his handicap at the time of each match played
The competition is match play taking account of full course handicap difference. Play will be from the yellow tees
It is the responsibility of the first named player in each pair to contact his opponent
If the match has not been played, or an outcome agreed by the two players by the final date set for that round, both players will be disqualified.
Any decision on appeals against disqualification or on whether to allow a request for an extension lies solely with the Rabbits Captain or, in his absence, the Vice Captain
All Season Walter Lees Cup
Entry is open to:
all members of the Rabbits Section with a competition handicap index of 15.5 or greater at the start of the competition and who have paid the subscription for the current year before the playing of the Rabbits Cup in April
Members of the Club whose handicap index increase to 16 and above after 1 April and are either existing Rabbits or join the Rabbits section after 1 April.
New members of the Club who have handicap index of 16 or over and join after 1 April.
Once a Rabbit member has qualified for the competition as above they will continue in the competition even if their handicap index is reduced to below 15.5. They will continue to play off their handicap on the day of any qualifying event
The final date for qualification for the competition is 30 June.
The winner of the Walter Lees Cup will be the Rabbit with the lowest aggregate of the 5 best nett medal competition scores that would count as a qualifying score in the Club’s Jubilee Cup.
All Season Bradford Rabbits League
The section enters a team in the Bradford Rabbits League. The fixture list is set by BDRGA.
The Captain is responsible for making detailed arrangements for matches and for selecting the team. The team comprises three members one in each handicap band 16/17, 18/19/20 and 21 and above
All Season Friendly Matches
Friendly matches will be arranged as appropriate against other clubs in the area, the ladies section, juniors or other teams within the club
Teams will be made up of Rabbit Section members with an active handicap of 15.5 or greater and any other player if invited by the Rabbits Captain or his nominated representative
The Rabbits Captain and/or Vice Captain or another member of the section nominated by the Captain will select the players for each match from the list of those members indicating availability
September Committee Challenge with St Ives
This is a ‘friendly’ fixture played between the committees of the two clubs on a date in September agreed between the two captains. The format is fourball better ball match play, played off yellow teea between teams of 12 players, 6 pairs. The Captains will determine the order of play and pairings. The clubs take it in turn to host the event, the home club providing refreshments on the day
Bradford District Rabbits Golf Association Chippendale Trophy
The format is fourball better ball match play, played off yellow tees between teams of twelve players (six pairs). The Captain will determine the pairings and order of play. A foursome match play knockout competition. Two teams from each club may enter and they play in two separate divisions. Winner of each division play off in the grand final for the trophy. One player of handicap 16 – 20 and 21 – 28 in each team
BDRGA 18 Hole Team Championship
Competition for Rabbit teams from clubs with an eighteen hole course. (9 hole courses have a separate competition) Four Rabbits, two in each category of 16 – 20 and 21 – 28 are drawn with members of other clubs to play a single medal round.
The best three net scores from the four are added to give the team score. Best net team score wins the championship
BDRGA Team Championship
Similar format to the 18 Hole Championship except that all clubs take part (18 hole and 9 hole). Four Rabbits, two in each category of 16 – 20 and 21 – 28 are drawn with members of other clubs to play a single medal round
BDRGA Presidents Cup
A four man team with two each from handicap ranges 16 – 20 and 21 – 28. Competition is Stableford with the best two scores on first six holes to count, best three on second six holes to count and all four scores to count on last six holes.
Winners are team with best points total
Competition is played at West Bradford Golf Club
Yorkshire Rabbits Golf Association Thornton Trophy
Two man team, one from handicap range 16 – 20 and one from 21 – 28. 18 hole medal round with all teams playing on same day at venue determined by YRGA. Lowest combined nett score will win the trophy
YRGA Fowler Trophy
Foursomes match play knock out competition played over 18 holes played off scratch
Two teams, playing in different sections, are entered from each club. Teams comprise one player in 16 – 20 handicap range and one in 21 – 28 range
